  • When he started his soccer career, he used to play as a striker.
  • Apart from English and his native German, Shkodran can also speak Albanian, Spanish, and Italian.
  • Before he decided to move to Everton, he was heavily pursued by Manchester City and Newcastle United. However, he decided to join the youth setup of the Merseyside club.
  • After he had showdown talks with Everton manager, David Moyes, to demand more playing time, the club decided to release him from his contract.
  • In January 2012, he decided to join Sampdoria as a free agent. He played for Sampdoria for 2 and a half years and managed to build a solid platform to launch his professional career.
  • In November 2013, he scored his first professional goal as he helped Sampdoria win by 1-0 against Atlanta.
  • In August 2014, the Spanish club Valencia CF paid Sampdoria a rumored transfer fee of €8 million to acquire Mustafi.
  • In October 2014, he scored his first goal for Valencia as he opened the scoring in his side’s 3-1 win over Elche.
  • Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, decided to pay £35 million to Valencia for Mustafi in August 2016. Wenger believed that Mustafi’s arrival would have him shore up the leaky defense.

  • In September 2018, he was caught up in a controversy after he decided to make an Albanian Eagle sign after having scored Arsenal’s first goal in their 3-2 win over Cardiff City.
