Continuing to grow their friendship and collaborative team-up, R3HAB & Afrojack work together again for the brand new single release, titled “Shockwave”. The track is set to be added to many festival DJ sets as the anthem is one that stands out for all the right reasons. This follows up the Afrojack & R3HAB vs Vion Kronger VIP Remix of “Worlds On Fire” by Afrojack, R3HAB & Au/Ra, the original of which was Tomorrowland’s official anthem last summer.

R3HAB, real name Fadil El Ghoul, is a multi-platinum DJ and producer with many hits to his name. He has remixed songs from some of the biggest artists in the world including Rihanna, Drake, Taylor Swift, and Calvin Harris, released tracks that have been global successes such as “All Around the World (La La La)” which was a collaboration with A Touch of Class and “Revolution” which was a collaboration with NERVO and Ummet Ozcan, and has worked with a number of stars from the likes of Sofia Carson and Zayn to Luis Fonsi and EXO. His work has collected over 8 billion streams to date, including 1.1 billion in 2021 alone. He has performed all over the world including EDC, Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Balaton Sound, Coachella, Summer Sonic Festival, and DWP Jakarta, and he is within the top 15 DJs in the world according to DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs chart. He is a household name in the EDM world, and it’s no surprise since he has excellent artistry. We expect he’ll have a few more global hits in the coming years.

As for Afrojack, real name Nick van de Wall, he is a Dutch-born GRAMMY award-winning electronic dance music producer who is a highly respected and sought-after artist known for pushing the boundaries of music. He first rose to fame with his multi-platinum-selling single “Take Over Control” and has since produced hit tracks for artists such as Beyoncé, Pitbull, and will.i.am. He has been named one of the 50 Most Important People in EDM by Rolling Stone and has been listed on Forbes’ “30 Under 30” music list. Afrojack has held a Las Vegas residency and continues to entertain audiences as a headlining artist for the Hakkasan group. He has won a GRAMMY award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for his remix of David Guetta & Madonna’s “Revolver” and has received two more GRAMMY nominations for his work on Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now” and Leona Lewis & Avicii’s “Collide”. He travels the world performing at major clubs and festivals, and also produces music through his label Wall Recordings. Afrojack’s 2020 song “All Night” featuring Ally Brooke reached number one on the US dance radio chart, amassing over 40 million streams, while his 2014 hit “Ten Feet Tall” featuring Wrabel is his most-streamed track on Spotify with over 156 million streams. His most recent worldwide hit songs such as “Anywhere With You” with Lucas & Steve and DubVision and “Up All Night” with Hard Lights and VINAI, add to his impressive repertoire. In 2021, he received his fourth GRAMMY nomination, this time for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for his inspiring dance-pop crossover summer song “Hero” with David Guetta. There’s a reason why he has been in the top 10 of DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs chart since 2015, with his highest placement of six in both 2021 and 2022 – could 2023 see him become even more of a global success and move his way into the top five?

Written by Fadil El Ghoul, Harry Michael, Nick van de Wall, and Tyron Hapi, whilst it was produced by the artists themselves, “Shockwave” is a big room house track that has a full bass sound flowing throughout, guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser and a dancefloor filler. The big room style is set to make an impact in 2023 as the house genre has been building up once again, hitting the mainstream. This track adds elements of both R3HAB and Afrojack, allowing them both to shine – as a true friendship does – with elements of stabbing synths and an unstoppable raging drop that will just ignite the festival world. We can easily see it being used as the anthem to festival 2023 videos, especially on the likes of social media, such as Tik Tok.

Talking about the track, R3HAB said: “Afrojack and I have worked together for over ten years, and this last year has been the best yet. We released our anthem ‘Worlds On Fire’, remixed each other’s records, and played B2B sets at the world’s biggest festivals. We’re excited to start 2023 with ‘Shockwave’, which is unlike any record we’ve worked on yet. It’s been a staple in our sets as we’ve developed it, and it’s finally ready for its official debut. Each year keeps getting better, and we can’t wait to see what this one has in store.”

Afrojack went on to say: “It’s been great being back together with R3HAB. We’ve got many records ready to pop; you can find some already in our sets, and we’ve been testing ‘Shockwave’ for a while now and we’re pumped to put it out now!”
