Pippa Middleton has the most desired skin color in the UK

This is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard. It’s a perfect complement to yesterday’s Frieda Pinto story, where Freida discussed – rather well – Indian obsession with fair or white skin. Many commenters had an interesting discussion about how the “light skin” obsession has taken root in cultures where the people tend to have naturally darker skin. On the other side, in cultures where people are known for being extremely pale, it’s become an obsession to fry or dye yourself into orange oblivion. Such is the case in the UK, from what I gather. There was a poll conducted (the Brits love their polls) as to who had the most “sought after” and “desirable” skin color. The winner? Neon orange Pippa Middleton. For real.

Move over Snooki — there’s a new show-stopping tan gal in town! First Pippa Middleton’s backside inspired a new butt-lifting surgery in the U.K., and now her healthy skin tone is getting some attention as well.

Dubbed “Royal Mocha” by tanning experts, Middleton’s tan has been voted as the most sought-after skin color, according to a U.K.-based poll which surveyed over 2,000 British women between the ages of 18 and 44. The research was done to mark the launch of British TV channel Really on Freeview.

Ringing in with 60 percent of votes, Middleton’s complexion beat out British songwriter Cheryl Cole’s “Cappuccino” color and TV personality Katie Price’s “Pricey Pecan” glow.

It’s been reported that Middleton, 27, turns to Xen-Tan self-tanning products to help achieve her healthy glow, but her outdoor runs probably contribute to her tan as well.

[From Us Weekly]

Pippa’s competition was Beef Jerky (Katie Price) and Makeup Shovel (Cheryl Cole)? Good God. Still, giving a Middleton girl an award for her skin is like giving LeAnn Rimes an award for eating. You really have better options, that’s what I’m saying. Both Kate and Pippa… well, it’s not that they have BAD skin, per se. They just don’t look youthful. Part of it is the way they dress, but another part of it is their skin, which tends to look leathery. For Kate, I think it’s stress and smoking. For Pippa, it’s years of tanning, sun damage and fake tans. While I’m willing to give Pippa more credit than most, at her sister’s wedding, her skin color looked ridiculous. And she continues to be an unflattering shade of orange. I bet if she stopped with the fake tans and wore sunblock every day, she would look so much better.
