Joe Budden has issued an apology to Lupe Fiasco after previously labelling him a “clout chaser” as the two seem to be on good terms once again after hashing things out on a phone call.

On an episode of The Joe Budden Podcast that aired last week, the former Slaughterhouse MC went back on his previous comments about the Chicago native after the latter shared a clip of himself rapping over the intro to André 3000’s New Blue Sun album.

“Hey Lupe, man, stop. Stop it,” Budden said of Lupe’s efforts. “He rapping over them damn flutes. I cut that shit right off […] That was some bullshit. That was some clout chasing.”

In a since-deleted tweet, the “Superstar” hitmaker fired back with images comparing their respective career statistics — Lupe’s 5.5 million monthly Spotify listeners, one Grammy win and 12 nominations versus Budden’s 726,000 monthly Spotify listeners, zero Grammys and two nods.

Budden revealed that they both subsequently spoke, with Lupe apparently saying that he was fine with being criticized for his music but that he wasn’t going to accept being called a clout chaser.

“I don’t even remember saying that, n-gga,” Budden said. “I didn’t mean that about Lupe. All I meant to say was that shit was ass. That was the only thing I meant to say; I didn’t mean to call him a name.”

“Lupe’s my man. I ain’t fuckin’ with Lupe. I gotta go back to school to fuck with him; I ain’t playing him … Me and Royce [Da 5’9″] have to jump that n-gga or something,” he added, tipping his hat to Lupe while joking about his beef with the Detroit rapper.

Keeping on the subject of clout chasing, Joe Budden remained firm on his comments about Dee-1, who has recently been calling out some of the biggest names in Hip Hop for not setting a positive example on listeners.

“That other n-gga is clout chasing,” he said without mentioned the Louisiana native’s name. “I ain’t saying his name no more because you’s a nasty, clout-chasing Christian […] That n-gga’s disgusting.

“I’m sorry, yo, do what you want. Name whoever you want to name. Name away. I’m sorry I ever caught wind of your Christian ass — you have been a real Christian fucking thorn!”

After Budden initially took shots at the 38-year-old, he took to Instagram last week and told the media personality: “You have a purpose that’s currently being unfulfilled, and that purpose comes from God […] God doesn’t call the qualified, God qualifies the called.”

He added: “I prepared a song about you. The song is done, but my wisdom told me that if I put this out, because of the way I went in, that it would distract from the overall purpose, which is to get us to all be better together.
