Lots Holloway is a rising singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who’s unique talent is taking over the world.

Her new single ‘World’s On Fire‘ is all about current politics. The track was inspired by the various events of last year, but despite its serious topic the track still manages to be a great pop song.

Here we chat to Lots Holloway all about her politically charged single, future goals, and more!

Your new track ‘World’s On Fire’ is very political, what made you want to go down that route?
I tend to be inspired by what is going on around me – So, I’m sure if I lived on a desert island away from civilisation and chaos I would have written about peacefulness and calm waters; but that is not our reality. Music has a massive influence within our society and I think there should be music that broaches these kinds of topics when a lot of other music seems to just distract us from it.

Have politics always inspired your music?
Not at all, I used to be very distanced from politics and have a very ‘don’t know, don’t care’ sort of attitude, but I feel an interest in the topic can come with age; when you realise that decisions being made will have an impact on your life, it suddenly becomes much more important to you.

There is a lot going on in the world right now, can we expect your next release to be as politically charged?
I am inspired by lots of different things, the B-Side to ‘World’s On Fire’ is called ‘Is Anything Real Anymore?’ which is about connection (or lack of) and searching for something in society which isn’t trying to trick us, or distract us or sell us something – but I also write songs about love, dreams, time, heartache – you just never know which one you’re going to get!

What is inspiring you at the moment?
People. I’m fascinated by psychology – why people do what they do, and say what they say. I am also thinking about summer a lot, it’s my favourite time of year, I am working on that ‘summer festival tune’.
When can fans expect an album from you?
I’d say this year. I am going back into the studio in March to complete a further set of songs towards the album and then there will be more studio time scheduled later to finish it. The songs are all written, it’s just the production stage to go.

Will you be going on tour this year?
I will be booking in live dates this year for sure. I can’t say where or when exactly yet, but I will definitely be out there.

If you could collaborate with any artist who would you choose?
Today I would probably chose Paul McCartney.

What do you hope to achieve in the next ten years?
I would like to enjoy myself. I want to travel the world playing music to people who want to hear it, play a load of festivals, meet a load of new people – but mostly I just want to enjoy myself.
